The 19th Annual Downtown Retail Merchants Holiday Open House
will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2010
Last year, Fredericksburg Yamaha Music students presented a continuous music program from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm. on the sidewalk in front of our school. About 135 students ages 3 - 18 entertained the shoppers and crowds of parents and friends. Santa Claus put in a surprise visit and led the crowd in a spirited rendition of Jingle Bells.

 

 

 Yamaha Junior Original Concert Auditions

were held on Monday November 16, 2009 at the Rappahannock Regional Library. Sixty eight students from the Fredericksburg Yamaha Music School presented their original works in a recital setting. The event was video taped so that the performances can be rated in California by a panel of judges. Also CD's were recorded for each student. The musical compositions included solos and ensembles. The ensembles included music for piano and vocalist, violin, guitar, clarinet, saxophone, etc.  One number was accompanied by poetry. The performers ranged in age from 5 - 15. The audiences were amazed at the creativity of the participants as well as their polished performances.

 

The 12th Annual Jazz, Rags and Blues Festival

was held at the University of Mary Washington on November 21, 2009. This event was sponsored by the Rappahannock Music Society, a member of the Virginia Federation of Music Clubs. Fredericksburg Yamaha Music School entered over 125 students in this event. Each participant received a blue rosette ribbon and a certificate.

 

Our Annual Christmas Recital

featuring music for the holiday season was held on December 16, 2009 at the Rappahannock Regional Library. This event was for former Yamaha students who are no longer enrolled in a Yamaha class, but are still taking lessons at our school. About 60 students participated in the three recitals putting one and all in a Merry Christmas mood.

 

The 87th annual celebration of National Music Week was held May 3 - 10, 2010 Yamaha Music School had 50  performers in the Music in the Library Lobby program on

Monday May 3, 2010

from 5:45 - 8:30.

All of the performers are  recipients of a Gold Cup this year.

 

The National Music Week song and poster display was in the library on the Lewis Street side. We had over 189 entries on display for the entire month of May

 

The Rappahannock Music Society

Sonata/Sonatina Festival

was held at the

University of Mary Washington

on Saturday March 6, 2010.

127 students from our school  participated!

 

The Virginia Federation of Music Clubs

 Junior Music Festival

was held in Manassas on

Saturday, February 27, 2010.

Our school had 200 entries in this event.
